This book represents works for a system reconstruction of the Merianic language (a dead Finno-Ugric language) extended in the past in the Central Russia (at the territory of modern Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Tver, Moscow and Vladimir areas). Here are examined the phonetics, the grammar, the lexicon, the phraseology of the Merianic language, as well as a periodization of its external history up to its transformation into a substratum of the Russian of the specified areas. This edition is illustrated by Merianic archaeological and ethnographic materials, which a part is published for the first time. The appendices contain the author's sketches about languages and about himself etc.

This book is intended for linguists, experts in the general linguistics, Finno-Ugric, Russian and Slavic linguistics, for historians, archeologists, ethnographers, teachers and students of high schools.
